How to Worship
WHAT IS WORSHIP AND HOW DO WE DO IT?
βLove the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.β Mark 12:30
4 Steps to Authentic Worship:
1. Worship requires a willing HEART. Having the sheer will to slow ourselves down from the craziness and high demands of this life and to do what the Psalmist calls for requires a full heart: "Be still and know that I am God". (Psalm 46:10)
2. Worship can and should involve SOUL stirring emotion. On top of a mountain or at the edge of an ocean; a captivating sunrise or the endless stars of a clear night; God has a way of catching our attention. Maybe it's lifting our voices in praise or perhaps just allowing the tears of a broken spirit to flow; we were made to experience the presence of God. βThe sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart β these, O God, You will not despise.β (Psalm 51:17) Let down your walls and let Him in.

3. Did you know you can worship God with your MIND? Worshippers love God with their minds. When youβre developing and strengthening your mind, it is an act of worship. Psalm 119:97 says, βHow I love your instruction! It is my meditation all day longβ. Intellectuals fall in love with the Bible when they become believers. There is no other book in the world like it! It has the answers to lifeβs questions, including: Why am I here? Where am I going? What is the purpose of life? Does my life matter? Whatβs the past? Whatβs the future? Where did I come from?
4. Worshiping God with all your STRENGTH is loving him with all we have, are, and possess. Part of what makes us stable in life is our abilities, gifts, and talents; the things we naturally excel at doing. We must surrender all of that to God, relying totally on him, and seeking his will in every situation and every decision. He gives us these unique abilities to use them for his kingdom purposes and that requires the strength that He loves to give to His people through worship!
